adidas Ultra Boost LTD 'Cream', in Paris

The Ultra Boost is my favourite sneaker silhouette that Adidas has brought out in the last few years. Consisting of a Primeknit (adidas’ knitted sock-like material) upper and sitting on a Boost mid-sole - I believe the Ultra Boost is possibly the comfiest trainer in the world and it is definitely Adidas' biggest success story in recent years. Boost is Adidas’ latest technology; effectively a polystyrene-looking material made up of thousands of tiny foam pellets glued together, acting in unison to form a pillow-y shock absorber for your feet...

Boost technology has featured in all of Kanye West’s Yeezy trainers produced in collaboration with Adidas. This collaboration along with other designer collaborations and the innovative Boost running technology has arguably made Adidas once again relevant and a strong competitor in the sneaker/sportswear market. As a result of my love for the Ultra Boost and its flexible wearability (they look good with shorts, trousers, jeans, you name it), I’ve now ruined my second pair of the original colourway. I hasten to add this is not a result of fragile design, (although a few hardwearing adaptations have been made to the more recent models) but just due to frequent wear.
This limited edition off white / chalk / cream colourway of the Ultra Boost first caught my attention when it was teased by friends and family of Adidas on Instagram last year. As soon as I saw them, I knew they were my favourite colourway to date. The limited edition Ultra Boost's were released in small quantities at overseas stores at the start of this year, and didn’t ever reach the UK. The very popular all white Ultra Boosts for me are too white, and a pain to keep clean - where as this off white variation ticks all of the boxes and are more wearable. Back in May I was in New York and happened to stumble across the rare colourway in Stadium Goods, for those not familiar - just like Flight Club, Stadium Goods is a sneaker consignment store that operates as a middle man by selling a reseller’s rare trainers to a shopper for a higher than retail price. Regardless of this price, I had to get them! As of 2016 all Ultra Boost’s have been fitted with a stronger rubber outsole produced by Continental (famous for its car tires). This upgrade means that the Ultra Boost is going to be a lot more durable, so this wicked colourway was an investment that I didn’t mind paying that little bit extra for as I knew they were going to last longer than my previous pairs had.

With the insane comfort of the Boost sole and stretchy Primeknit upper, along with the new and improved, car tire-strength sole, the Ultra Boost is ideal for exploring cities on foot. Functionality and comfort ensure no blisters whilst the fashion-ready silhouette keeps you stylish. Whilst in Paris for my birthday these limited edition Boosts certainly came in handy. I paired the light grey tonal Primeknit upper with some neutral coloured Uniqlo socks (generally my go-to shop for socks). In an effort to wear trousers more, I’m wearing these AW15 AMI wool carrot-fit trousers, which have really grown on me and I definitely want a breezier pair for the summer weather - AMI summer sale here I come! I’m wearing an oversized cream t-shirt, which picks up the tonal three stripes and laces on the Ultra Boost’s. The tonal sneaker’s look great with natural olive and khaki hues, so I decided to rock my olive 'Bold' Our Legacy shades and took out my convenient Le Labo (my favorite fragrance brand – I wear ‘Santal 33’) tote bag – another souvenir from my New York travels. I got this tote bag from the Soho branch, as this was their original store; to my surprise, this tote has really come in handy when exploring. I like that indigo tones break up the neutral palette so rocked yet another New York souvenir - a Yankees cap and my vintage denim trucker jacket whilst out in Paris.
