The Wyatt Boot by Saint Laurent

It’s official, Hedi Slimane, photographer and former Dior Homme creative director that controversially revamped the Yves Saint Laurent fashion house to the youthful Saint Laurent Paris as we now know it, is sadly leaving the building. After many extremely successful seasons Slimane brought his rock n’ roll chic to the iconic Parisian fashion house and created an extreme buzz in menswear. Since Slimane’s rein you all know I’ve been fanatic about the denim, and the same goes for the boots. The classic Wyatt 40 Harness Boot has been on my list since the first AW13 show; and with Slimane’s announced departure it was about time I bit the bullet and bought a souvenir from his time at Saint Laurent...

I’m rocking the classic ‘Nut’ Suede Wyatt boot with my go to black 15.5cm hem Saint Laurent jeans, and a vintage denim trucker jacket which I’ve been on the hunt for, for the last two year’s. It appeared to be impossible to find the boxy fit I was after, whilst still maintaining fitted arms and a perfect cropped length. I wanted a trucker jacket from the mid 80’s so that it featured two lower welt hand pockets (before the 80’s the trucker only had chest pockets). I came across this perfectly washed, perfect fitting Levi’s trucker jacket at a vintage shop in Bristol and knew straight away this was going to be a perfect Spring/Summer transitional jacket. To make the jacket mine I’ve personally distressed it in areas of heavy wear...

Normally I’m very careful with suede as we all know how much of a pain suede can be to keep in good condition. However with the Wyatt boot’s I’m going to try and be relaxed when breaking them in, as they equally look great beaten up, fully embodying the true rock n’ roll aesthetic that Hedi Slimane envisioned when re-branding YSL.
