Apple Music / July Playlist

Apple Music released a few weeks back; and all the music buffs and critics have posted their reviews analysing and comparing the streaming service. I will not be attempting a full-on, intricate review; I am simply going to outline my experience and thoughts so far…

Admittedly, I am a lover of Apple products: Mac, iPhone…(although I am still unsure about the Apple Watch, but I'm sure that will improve over time). Anyway, I have been using iTunes from the mere age of 8 and have been gradually comprising a huge iTunes collection. As streaming services completely changed the market a few years ago, I subscribed to iTunes Match (backing up my collection to the iCloud), and also subscribed to Spotify and partially moved ship. I was in limbo between music services and didn't personally like the aesthetic or the user interface of Spotify and all of my music and playlists were firmly established on iTunes... I began to find my music game slipping, and that I was out of the loop. I hated not being grounded with one service containing my OCD perfected library. As a loyal iTunes fan, I was just waiting for the news of Apple Music. So come the 30th of June I signed up for the 3 month free trial and began trialling the service.

My first impressions of Apple Music are that it is a buggy all-inclusive iTunes with a very good radio channel. Despite the bugs that I have experienced when adding music from the streaming service to my library, the service is how I would have hoped: simple, straightforward and minimal. The iTunes I had previously loved, now, with everything inclusive additionally with the benefit of a great radio station. Beats 1 is a new generation of radio; since listening I have been treated to banger after banger. The radio station has been a great way for me to find new music without hearing the same average repetitive tunes. As this is a trial for both the user and Apple, it would be nice to see the few bugs refined and some Sonos capabilities incorporated (which apparently is on the agenda). I have put together a cheeky little playlist of the songs I have been recently listening to; as you can see Raury and Jamie XX are two artists that I'm currently over playing. Regardless, give the playlist a listen and trial Apple Music, after all it is free for 3 months and the Beats 1 radio station is exclusive to the streaming service and is worth the subscription alone!
Let me know your thoughts on Apple Music and Beats Radio? Are there any changes you'd like to see? Will you be making the switch from your previous streaming service?
